If We Build It Will You Come?
We created WhereVeteransTrain (Clever name, I know), a private Facebook group of folks who are really into building on our community and message. I guess the idea was that we could get better intel from folks who share the same interests and could provide a better product which could lead to growth which could expose more to Jiu Jitsu which could save more lives. It is also a place to share veteran friendly gym locations, jokes, and ideas on all things you would find where veterans train (see what I did there?). We are lucky enough to already have some members who have been making waves in the Jiu Jitsu community for years.
Escaping Injury from the Gentle Art
It’s inevitable……. you are going to get hurt from time to time. You are learning a martial art intended to suffocate or maim an opponent. Don’t let these temporary boo boos get inside your head and allow the enemy (Ego) to put you on the ledge. These temporary, small, normal side effects of being new to the sport will fade.

Finding a Jiu Jitsu gym was easy for me. I had a buddy from work that heard about a place from another buddy at work and we buddied up and checked out a free class. Most good gyms offer a free class for you to see if you are a good fit. And I ended up liking it there
